vb_number_format issue

hi I have a mod running on my forum stars and pips it all works fine until it hits the 1000 post mark due to the 1,000 comma its causing problems how can i change the following code to ignore the comma it does'nt seem to notice the numbers after 999 it just sees them as 1 and 2000 as 2 etc.
