Forcing BBCode to Not Parse Smilies?

Hi everyone,
Is it possible for me to specify that smileys inside a BBCode param not get parsed? If it isn't possible to do that via the BBCode manager, how can I emulate the code tag's functionality?

Another thing I just thought off - is there a way to maybe have one tag emulate another tag? For example, if I can nest the output of the 'code' tag into my custom BBcode, that would solve my problem.

On experimenting with this, though, it doesn't seem to really work. The 'code' tag is just output as plain text with the actual open/close tags visible.
