I seldom use the admincp but I just found at least 2 problems:
(1) I can't delete threads while doing moderation. After checking the Delete radiobutton and clicking Save in moderation panel, the threads will still appear again when I subsequently go to moderation panel again. (2) In Users, I can't move to the next page when showing all users. No matter how many times I click on Next Page, it just shows the first 25. Apparently I can't do an exact match too - the search results will show "1-25 of xxxx", apparently returning the entire user list. I have successfully upgraded to 3.8.4 Patch Level 1 and my forum seems to be working fine. It's only the admin and mod panels that are behaving in a weird way. Thanks for any help. --------------- Added [DATE]1258792439[/DATE] at [TIME]1258792439[/TIME] --------------- It now seems that I can't save anything in admincp! Am I missing anything? |

Create a new style with no parent:
If it is still happening - Try disabling your modifications/plugins and see if you still have this problem. Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php PHP Code:

Thanks for the reply.
I tried both your suggestions, but to no avail. - Create new style -> doesn't work, because I can't save anything in admincp (and modcp) - Disable hooks. -> Hooks are disabled, but still I can't save anything in admincp (and modcp) I've also tried re-uploading all the vb files and gone through the 5-step installation process (no errors), but still I can't save anything in admincp and modcp. Fortunately, the forum is still working normally. I can also delete posts and threads from within the main forum, but it's frustrating that I can't do any config update in admincp. Appreciate any further help. --------------- Added [DATE]1258859689[/DATE] at [TIME]1258859689[/TIME] --------------- Found the problem! It's the password protect feature from cpanel that I'm applying on modcp and admincp folders. I have a habit of adding a layer of authentication to sensitive areas of my websites. I know it's actually a simple .htaccess added to the applied folders. It had worked for previous versions of vb, but obviously not for the latest 3.8.4pl1. I tried disabling password protect, and of course it works! I also found that password protecting just the index.php apparently doesn't break the admincp. This is the new .htaccess I have: <Files index.php> AuthName "Access Denied!" AuthUserFile "/home/mydir/.htpasswds/public_html/admincp/passwd" AuthType Basic require valid-user </Files> |
