I saw this hack here recently where it required you confirm your e-mail before you even begin the registration process. The way it is in VBulletin currently is you confirm your e-mail to complete the registration.

Anybody provide a link? thx.

Its already in the vbulletin software. Just enable it.

admincp>vbulletin options> user registration

then enable it.

Since this mod I have had zero spam signups where I used to get 10 a day. The extra step of having to verify your e-mail before even beginning the registration process works like a charm.
