Well, there's already vbTwitter which lets your users post to their twitter accounts from within your site.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=204694 Is that not enough for you? |

What I want is to make it easier for visitors who are members of twitter to login to my site without having to register, like they can if they belong to Facebook using my Connect with Facebook button. That way visitors to my site, or anyone else's vBulletin forum, have a choice to register or to login using the Sign in with Twitter button or the Connect with Facebook button. Any login system that makes a visitor a member quickly and easily will only increase the likelihood of them joining a forum. The Facebook connect mod I mentioned works quite well, but from reading the thread it appears that mod can't easily be modified to Twitter capable and I haven't found any vbulletin mod that does a quick and simple autologin for twitter members. |

Ditto this request. With anti-spam checks and email confirmation, registering has become a hassle for people. Twitter is huge now and I'm using Twitterfeed to update my Twitter account with new forum threads. If Twitter users see those tweets, I'd like them to be able to follow them to the forum, sign in with Twitter and respond. It would boost forum membership dramatically.

FYI this is a good walkthrough.
Letting your users “Sign In With Twitter” with OAuth and How to quickly integrate with Twitter’s OAuth API using PHP. The latter post is a bit more technical. Haven't looked at the Facebook Connect mod to see the level of difficulty of doing something like this, but it's definitely doable. I've PM'd sllik, the author of that mod to weigh in on this thread. Maybe it's something he's willing to tackle as it's so similar and a lot of his could could be re-used for this mod. |

Well if everyone would kill for it, lets get together and pay someone for it...
There is a website called rpxnow.com that already has all login options and updates them for you whenever there is a change (myspace, facebook, twitter, google, yahoo, etc). This is just like facebook connect BUT it has all of the other logins available as well. Now all we need is to have someone create a plugin for it. A plugin for this already exists for Wordpress here http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rpx/ . I have already installed it on my WP blog and it works great. I also put in a request to rxp to have this plugin/mod created as you can make requests and they actually listen...you can vote for it too without registering here https://rpx.uservoice.com/pages/8895-general . Look for the "make a vbulletin plugin" and vote. Rpx has the same issue that the facebook connect mod is having in terms of not providing the email address but that is because Facebook does not allow it. As soon as facebook starts providing the email addresses (which I hear is soon as all other login options are providing it) Rpx will take care of updating it on their end without anyone who has this installed on their end having to do much. What do you guys think??? |
