Too many subforums. Like your ps3 hacking section has 6 subforums,,,,
You might want to enable public viewing of forums. People like me like to use forum signatures to build backlinks. Knowing that I can get a couple of links from your site is a good reason for me to sign up and post. But, since you have disabled public viewing of forums threads there is less of a reason for me to join. I saw a thread titled "left 4 dead hacks" and clicked on it. I was then prompted to sign in or register. Well, if you cheat in l4d you could get your steam account banned. Some servers use a program from valve called VAC - "Valve Anti Cheat" If your reported as a cheater on VAC servers, valve will ban your account. Meaning you might have to register a new account and rebuy all your games. I dont about you, but I have around $300 worth of games in my steam account. I can not risk losing my account just to cheat in l4d. |

the psp forum is one of the largest of our forums, i do think that there is alot of subforums, but they keep that section organized, like the popular games, having there own sections is alittle over kill but without them our search page was DOUBLED, so having those forums makes it clean and easier access for the user. There are many reasons i have it disabled public viewing, creates more hits, larger mailing list (if they do not click the dont not mail on register), makes users post more, even on there first posts, then they stay. Having guests just run around the site, does not work, i have had alot of sites before this one. If a user registers comes once and never comes back. And i send out a news letter showing "New _Blank_" or something that they are interested in the chances of them coming back a great. Also i send a pm to all new registrations, people love that "Welcoming them" and giving my personal info for questions or requests. I get a reply on 50% of all registrations.
I know about the steam preacations, and the VAC system, but there ares a ways around it. but thanks for your input :-D |
