Problem with Pulling images from last 5 threads

I have a hack which pulls images from the last 5 latest threads which are made in a certain section.
Now the problem is this : When someone ups a preview the preview image is lets say for example : 250kb.
Now on my last 5 which is displayed on forum home in a set box the preview images are small sizes (100x80) but their size is the size (250kb).
And because of this there is some load because 5x pics means you have to download 1.25 meg just to view the last 5 preview images on forumhome.

Does anyone know a better way to do this so the smaller images which go on forumdisplay are actually smaller in size without affecting the actual pic in the thread.

Sounds like the hack you are using ought to be rendering a thumbnail instead of working with the full size image. Both GD and Imagemagick have utilities to convert images to thumbnails and I'm guessing a hack has already been done that you could add to yours. I know for sure a few utilities are here that do image processing. May be you should check into something like that ?

well it pulls the image and makes it appear in a box (5 of them) but if i grab the small shot it still exactly the same size as the orginal one in the thread except it made to look smaller on forum index.

How do i fix this problem - or does the hack have to be recoded from scratch ?

If you have two different size images and they both produce the same size display then I think something is wrong with the hack. What hack is it ? I just did a youtube MOD to display a row of thumbnails in CMPS and they can not be mixed up between the full size and the thumbnail so I am guessing something is wrong with your hack that its grabbing the same image for both display or is configuring the image to be the same size no matter what it grabs.

cant help there m8 as it was custom built.But i need to get this sorted ASAP so i can expand on displaying more pics from different sections.
Is anyone willing to take a look at the hack in question for me - it was pre-installed on my live board.

still having problems with this.

Instead of pulling the image by way way of :

threadthumb.php?thread=53890&size=230

mine is pulling them this way :

attachment.php?attachmentid=77743&stc=1&d=12320554 82

so size is big just for previews.Does anyone know how to fix this.Like i say its a custom hack so it has to be in the hack somewhere wont it.

i have the hack in question if someone is willing to take a look at it.
I have the product file and the templates in a txt file.

I need someone to see how it can be altered so instead of the images being big it uses thumbnail to make them smaller.
