Converting
MY wife has a mybb forum & she too is thinking of getting a vbulletin forum aswell as me.
My question is mainly about getting the members & threads over. Shes not bothered with the current mods or themes shes got at the mo, all she wants to do is get her members & threads/posts transferred. What is the easiest way of doing this? Ive looked at the impex system, but it looks quite complex so i was just wondering if there was another way of doing it |

I had to use Impex when converting my club's forum from PHPNuke to vB. And like you, I thought Impex looked really rather complex. I read through the instructions a few times, made a couple backups of my database, and then followed the instructions step by step and it turned out to be a bit easier than I thought it was going to be. I learned a few things in the process and, for the most part, it went smoothly.
As far as I'm aware, there is no other way to convert from one system to another. |

There is a forum dedicated to Impex over on vb.com. You might want to go read through the posts over there.

It's not nearly as complicated as the manual may make it look. As I recall it was fairly painless and required virtually no input from me.
It didn't import passwords for me, so I just put up notices that everyone needed to have new passwords sent to them. |
