What's Going On/ Add Member Count
Hi everyone!
I have been looking ALL over in my admin for the setting that will help me out, and I can't find it. I'm guessing I have to change the html... but I'm not sure.... If you go to the bottom of my website... www.welcometothenorthpole.com and look in the What's Going On box you will see that the only thing displayed is the Most Users Online. I had a friend tell me when I first set this up to take out the member count because I only had like 3 members. He went in and did it for me. Well, we have parted ways, and I have NO clue how to change it back! If you go to the bottom of this forum it has... vBulletin.org Forum Statistics Threads: 164,436, Posts: 1,442,152, Members: 269,248, Active Members: 18,781 Welcome to our newest member, Pat Bates How do I get all that in there? I'm lost. Thank you in advance for your help. Kris :-) PS- I did just install the Top 5 Box and I am playing around with that... but I would still like the other stats. :-) |

I think that is the FORUMHOME template. You can always see the default text by going to edit the template and clicking on Show Default. What you may want to do is go to edit the template and click on View History and then Compare your template to the default and those lines of code should be highlighted. You can then add it back in.

Thanks Lynne,
I did take a look at the FORUMHOME, and looked at the original, and what I currently had. I couldn't find anything different so I copied the whole "What's Going On" box html and pasted it from the original to the current. It still is not working. :-( There was nothing in the history because my "friend" didn't do the save this to the history and named it. AGH!!!! Here is the code I have on my site for the What's Going On Box. Am I missing something? PHP Code:
So I'm completely lost! Does anyone else have any clue about this? Thanks, Kris |

Are you sure you are editing the correct style template? I ask because there is code missing from your page source that should be there (beyond the obvious that you are looking at for the thread/posts/etc). Just at the very top of that template, that comment, "<!-- what's going on box -->", shows up nowhere and yet the table tag does - but again, the thead doesn't.

Hi Lynne,
(Thank you for all your help). :-) I only have one Style Template (named, "Santa"). I paid someone to set up vBulletin onto my server and (thought) that he had made this template for me. Turns out he got it from somewhere else. Asking him to make changes to the style was a pain (because he didn't originally make it). I do play on (sometime in 2009) re-doing the style of the site. Don't know if I'm going to do it, or what. Because we are close to Christmas I really don't want to play around with the look of the site. My "friend" that was helping me, was a business friend that suggested vBulletin in the first place. While in the process of setting it up he told me that you don't want your stats on the bottom because they were really low. So he said that he would "take care" of them for me. Well we are no longer in contact. I just thought it was a check yes/no thing. But after not being able to find it, I think it's somewhere in my html. I have no doubt that I'm missing some of the code. And like I said I only have one style template to change. I don't know. I'm soooo confused! :-) Thanks, Kris |

OK, maybe he changed the template being used. Let's do this.... vboptions > General Settings > Add Template Name in HTML Comments > set to Yes . Then we can go view the page source for your page and see the template name in there.

Alright. I've done that. :-)

OK, this is interesting..... it is using the FORUMHOME template. I'm wondering if your top 5 stats hack is doing some sort of template replacement and replacing that part of the text. Is it easy to disable that modification temporarily and see what happens to that page?

Alright, I disabled it.
That is the only template I have (as far as I can see). I have edited myself to add the Santa's List banner and to change the "Sponsors" on the forum. I have successfully changed those in the past, and where I got the code from (the one above) was from that style. It's just all too strange why it's not working.... |

Can you search in your templates or plugins for this line:
<!-- top category table setup --> That shows up right after the what's going on comment line and it's getting inserted there from somewhere. |
