Section URLs?
Hey just wondering where the mod is for making the URLs of the different sections what they are called. In other words, right now if you visit my "General Laser Discussion" section, the URL is http://www.spectraforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2 . How do i make it so that the URL is http://www.spectraforum.com /forum/general_laser_discussion or something similar?
Also, when my forum turns up in search results on google, how do i get it so that it has the different categories underneath, or do i have no control? Here is a picture of what im talking about. vbulletin.org has the different categories right there on the search results page, but my forum does not. Is this simply because my forum isnt large enough yet? |

Both are paid features if i'm not wrong.
the first one about the URL is done by vbseo. its a commercial product. the second one about the google listing is also a paid feature. not sure but i think, its done with an adwords account. Its just a guess. |

hmmm well im not sure i want to pay 150 bucks just to get that done. Im sure there has to be a really simple mod for it, right?
And for the second one, ive tried looking through all the adwords features but i cant find anything like that. I think that your categories just have to have enough traffic to be considered for one of those little navigation things under there. |

i have and recommend vbseo, which is intended to increase traffic over time, in part by rewriting urls as you're request. i consider it an investment in my site. |

ok so what if i make a bunch of directories, like http://www.spectraforum.com/forum/ge...ser_discussion , and then forward those to the actual location of the category. Then go into the admin panel and make it so that when you click on general laser discussion, you are taken to /general_laser_discussion, which forwards to the actual location.
Would that do anything for making the search results page look like what i wanted it to? Or would that be a whole lot of nothing? |
