vBulletin Backup Installion Error
Hey, I'm really tired and I don't feel like explaining much so, here's a lot of information:
My host allows a maximum of 8,192 KB backups and I have a backup in the 9,000's KB. How do I divide it into half and then upload it so my host will allow my backup? Thank You and have a nice day! Sincerely, Eric E. --------------- Added [DATE]1211655862[/DATE] at [TIME]1211655862[/TIME] --------------- Anyone? Eric E. |

The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh (you might want to ask your host if they are willing ot restore for you if you don't have shell access). This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeouts errors and an incomplete backup file. Please see the instructions here:
Backup: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...nce_ssh_backup Restore: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...ce_ssh_restore P.S. If you don't have shell access, some people have also reported success with these scripts: MySQLDumper: http://www.mysqldumper.de/en/index.php MySQLHotxcopy: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...t=mysqlhotcopy Bigdump: http://www.ozerov.de/bigdump.php |

You can also upload hte backup file via ftp, tell the host were the file is and tell them to import it for you, if they wont and none of marco's options work for you, change hosts.

Okay, thank you. I figured out how to fix it, =)!
