Help with Custom Title/Rank
I am new to vbulletin, and my programming knowledge is only "ok", so I need some help with figuring out how to do this. I am trying to accomplish the following:
1. Establish my own titles for users, that are NOT based on number of posts. 2. Have users to designate their own title at the time they register (and preferably allow changes to it later through the UserCP or by me through the AdminCP) 3. Have custom text in the registration page to guide them in designating their title -- or if that's not possible then at least have text directing them to the correct place to designate their title. 4. Have titles visible under each (or near) user's username in the forums. I have not been able to figure out how to do this with normal vbulletin functions, so would I need a hack to do this? Is there, or could there even be a hack to do this? Thanks for helping out a stupid newbie! |

Well.. most of your queries can be solved from within the AdminCP. 1. To set your own title for users, in AdminCP simply go to Users->Search for users->perform Search->Complete Profile opens->Set Custom user title to Yes->Provide User title->Save. 2. YOU can change user title by following the above step. To allow Users to set custom titles themselves go to Usergroup Manager->Choose usergroup->General Permissions->Can use custom title, set to Yes. Now, I don't think there's a need to allow user's to have set the titles at registration. It may feel irritating to some. Registration should always be simple, fast and easy. If you still need this feature.. look for a mod. around. 3. Edit the register template according to needs. Simple knowledge of HTML is required and paste in custom text. 4. They are already visible throughout the forums and everywhere. Don't you see Administrator beneath your username ?? Quote:
Hope this helped you out !! |
