Changing Domain Names
Could anybody advise me on the best way to go about this with my board?
I want to change my sites url. I know in the short term it will affect seo, but i feel in the long run it will be better. Basically the current domain name fonesandsport emphasises on them two subjects but we seem to be excelling in other areas I have the domain name funforums.co.uk which better suits the forum. And would obviously still incorporate the main two subjects from the present url. I will not be changing hosts at all I have funforums pointing to the server already i'm just at a loss as to the best method to make the domain move. Any advice regards bazz |

All you really need to change are 2 things:
- Cookie Settings ...if you have it set so cookies are stored to your old domain name, just change it to your new domain - Forum URL in Site Name/URL settings Most people I know with 2 or 3 domains run the board smoothly...If you want, you can go into your server admin panel and forward all visitors from the old domain to the new one and enable wild card redirection as well. |

Thanks for your reply, so do i add the domain as an addon domain or sub domain?
It is currently an addon domain which has its own folder, and what would my cookie settings be? They are currently on set to default. regards |
