LinkShare Affiliate Program
I recently signed up with vendors in LinkShare's Affiliate program at LinkShare.com. I have different ads to put on my site but I was wondering if anyone would have some suggestions on the best way to arrange these? In a rotating banner? In a module using vbAdvanced? I was also curious about OpenAds/phpAdsnew and if that would work?
Here is a link to my site... TalkVirginia.net Any help or ideas would be very appreciated. Jim |

Well I use OpenAds on my board to manage ads and just insert the output code into my ad templates on the board.
It depends on the level of management you want really. If you just want to add some simple could you could either add it manually, use a simple banner rotator or use vB Ad Management. The only reason I use OpenAds is because I offer advertising space for sale and each client gets to have their own account to view stats and so on plus I don't have to modify the code on my board once I implement the code given by OA. I just make necessary changes within the OA panel and it shows up. |

Selling ad space is definitely the direction I'm looking to go in. Ok, I'll have to check out OpenAds... I may not need the full functionality right now, but I expect to soon.
Thanks for the info, Jim |

I find more success with direct sales rather than LinkShare.

Linkshare is crap imo unless the sharing is within a very niche market.
jim6763nva - I totally recommend OpenAds since ad management becomes very easy since you don't have to constantly insert hard code into your websites...just make changes within your panel. Also you can manage unlimited number of ads, set limitations, view ad stats and much more. |

I just installed Openx and tried to go through the tutorials but it doesn't look like the tutorials have been updated to match the actual screens of the software. They are very different and rather confusing. That said, I may opt to go with a simple banner rotator for now till I can learn more about Openx. |

Have you switched over to Openx? I'm having trouble getting this set up on my vbulletin forum with vbA. I've read various posts on the net indicating that you can put the local invocation code into a plugin on global_start but I'm having trouble getting that part to work. How have you implimented yours? Thanks, Jim |

Yea I use it on my forum...I just keep it in a separate folder, then invoke code and put it into the ad spaces.
