Can I open the forum from cpanel?
I have access to the cpanel but I don't have access to an admin account on the forum. And the forum is closed. I'm running a forum for someone and I only got given the ftp information, and I can't get into the forum.
Is there a way I can open the forum? |

You probably could (I think I once posted about how to do this and someone told me I really shouldn't be posting it, I forget what their reasons were, but due to what is going on in another thread here, it makes me very, very reluctant to post the query!), but I would try to contact him and have him give you admin permissions. What if you need to do, um, admin type stuff? He can't actually expect you to run the forum through the database, can he?

The only thing I need to be able to do is open the forum and register. I can then add myself to super administrator. Am I correct? He's not online much, he's very busy but i'm going to be running the forum with payment.
And Snakes, I am not the license holder no but I am listed on a license owners account. |

Well, you should contact him and inform him that his forum is closed and he needs to open it and set you up an admin account.

Hint: RTFM, and I do mean that seriously. While we won't answer your questions, you can find some of the answers you are searching for in the manual.

I do think that if someone expects you to be watching over their forum, then *they* need to make sure everything is all set for you to do so. Expecting you to somehow run it from cPanel is totally stupid. This is a vbulletin forum and he should know that he needs to give you access to the Admin Panel. |
