I was wondering I saw on this forum site that in the options it had a section where you could put in your email address that forwards to your phone via SMS, how does this work?
How do you get emails to go to your phone via SMS? can this be done?
this technique is to become obsolete with the iPhone and its clones, as you can acces the entire net on your phone...
on iPhone, you can install a instant messenger (any web version actually work), and be alerted the way you want when you receive emails... or new messages on vBulletin!

Not true. There's no stock IM application on the iPhone, and the web-based IM services are rubbish anyway. Besides, I don't think IM is going to be of any use on the move unless you have satellite internet. I have GPRS and EDGE coverage most of the time when I'm out and about on my iPhone, but signal drops as you move between areas and you can't really have that happening on IM.
And you think everyone in the world uses an iPhone, or even does browse the net over their phone?
not today... but remember when people where finding strange to have a cellphone... ya remember, these big 3 pounds boxes with the batteries... 20 years later they are smaller than your credit card... (which btw never minimized!)

You are absolutely right with the 24/7 usage... but i suppose that with a system like Growl, we will have alerts in our phones soon... just like SMS.
and as i said, i was refering to web-based IM, not stock apps... (Adiumx is close to that day), and yes, web-based apps are crap...
