Why am I Getting Swamped with Spammers
I've had the board up since August and I've gotten a few spammers here and there. But lately I'm getting more spammers than legitimate registrants. I've blocked any email addresses containing a .ru since russian emails were the majority of my spammers, but that hasn't stopped the rest of them.
Anyone have any other tactics they use? |

I've got the same problem.
Had a few in the past, but now I'm getting loads of the ones who are selling stuff. Installed a restrict url mod, but doesnt work, they post email addresses, so now im looking if i can prevent new users from posting email addresses :S |

Yup, I've got that installed, and it worked for a while, it stopped the porn posting ones, but the "ipod for sale" ones, get through it, and after the first one a couple days ago, changed the question, and had 2 more since. Human spammers?

I've been keeping an updated ban list from stopforumspam.com that has been working well to keep spam count low..

I use the spam deciminator and very little spam gets through.
