Paid subscriptions: limit number of recurring payments
Hi,
This is something I can do with my Amember-Vbulletin integration, but found I couldn't set up for a friend who has just Vbulletin: a subscription which requires just 12 monthly payments. Vbulletin does either single payment, or recurring payments that continue forever. Can someone add a function to specify a number of recurrences? |

I thought vb gave you an option of subscription length which would then stop the payments.

Sadly, no. There are two controls: 'subscription length', which you can set to '3 weeks', '1 year', '5 days' etc; and 'recurring', which is just a checkbox. But 'subscription length' means the length of time a single payment lasts for, not how many of those payments are made.
Eg a 2 week non-recurring subscription means one payment that gives you access for two weeks. A 2 week recurring subscription means payment's taken every two weeks indefinitely. What you can't do is have payment taken every two weeks for ten payments and then stop. So you can't, for instance, set up a course that lasts 6 months and has monthly payments. You can have one that lasts forever with monthly payments, or one that lasts 6 months with one payment. The obvious solution is to buy Amember and integrate it with Vbulletin. That's actually what I've done - but I submitted this request when I was setting things up for someone who didn't want to splash out for Amember just for this feature. |
