Some template help please
Hi,
I am in the process of making a new skin for my forum which is migrating to vb after this weekend. I am trying to re-arrange the locations of the user's join date, name, avatara, etc... when you are viewing a post. can anyone point me in the correct place to make such changes? I am not afraid of html I just need a nudge in the right direction. Thanks in advance! |

The postbit or postbit legacy template

that was just what I needed!
Is there a way for me to use an image as a border instead of just making it a single color? |

Sure. Where exactly did you want to have the image border?

ok in picture #1 here is my forum the way it currently stands and is in smf, I am moving it to vb as soon as I have my vb theme completed. picture #2 has the vb theme so far and I need to know how to put these left and right border images that are about 10-12 pixels wide on each side of the "page background"
Image #3 shows where I am at so far, but I am unsure of the way to get the border_left.gif file to show up. |

Is your style fixed or fluid layout?

The old layout was a fixed width, the new one is fluid.
I know that I can just use something like border-left: #000000; |

Well, there are several ways to do it but for fluid width try this:
In spacer_open template find: Code:
<else /> <div align="center"> <div class="page" style="width:$stylevar[outerdivwidth]; text-align:$stylevar[left]"> Add after: Code:
<table width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"> <tr> <td width="20px" nowrap="nowrap" style="background:#000000"></td> <td> Save. Then go to spacer_close template and find: Code:
<else /> </div> Add after: Code:
</td> <td width="20px" nowrap="nowrap" style="background:#000000"></td> </tr> </table> Change "width="20px" to whatever you want. Also change the background value to: Code:
background:#000000 url(path/to/background/image/.gif) repeat-y top left Change the .gif to whatever image extension you're using. Chances are that you'll have extra outborder width (space between border images and forum frame) so go to StyleVars and the 3rd option "Outer Border Width (pixels)" change the value to something smaller. I tested it and it should work but you never know. Let me know how it goes. |
