I'm shortly going to be upgrading from 3.5.3 to the latest version...
I'm obviously concerned as I have a lot of mods and template changes, that they won't update easily, so I have a couple of questions... 1. IS it straight forward to go from .5.3 to .6.8, or is it a convoluted path ? 2. This is my (hopeful) preferred route - given I can have a testboard, can I install 3.6.8 to a testboard then migrate things over at my leisure, making sure all is working etc, before binning the 3.5.3 version ? I've never utilised the test board, hence my question.... Thanks in advance |

1./ Everything except templates and modifications. Templates will need the mandatory changes done as specified in the release threads over at vB.com.
2./ Copy your database and files. Then run the 3.6.8 upgrade. |

I kinda prefer the Route 2 method to be honest. Is there a guide online anywhere that tells me what files etc to copy over to the testboard ? Sorry - whilst I'm okay at the vbulletin bit of things, the backend server stuff is more "concerning" ![]() |

All the files should be copied over.
