How many offer multi styles on their vB
I am curious as to how many people uses this feature, the one that allows multiple styles?
My take on it is, you want people to recognize that they are on your website. Colors can play a huge roll in marketing, take McDonalds for example. If you see a big golden M, you know you are at McDonalds. Style, color scheme, they can all play a huge roll in marketing, and keeping users, when you offer a variety of looks, you put that at risk. |

I like to have atleast 5 styles. So everyone can choose one they like. I tihnk I have 7 installed right now, that number will grow two.

I agree with nomods. The more style a community has the more chance that every member will be happy. The only downside of that is that your site loses that one identity that makes everyone remember you by.

I always add so many hacks that it's a pain in the ass to add more skins after the fact. Usually install one light, one dark, and one optimised skin so everyone can get their fill.

One one of my sites, we have about 8 styles, and 5 of them are user (mostly moderators, but still) submitted. They usually just make a nice header and then give me the colors they want everything to be and I go make it work.
On my other site, I offer two main styles: fixed and fluid. |

Not me. I just stick with the one style for each forum simply because I like to mod the heck out of my styles and trying to keep up and transfer over every single template tweak for so many styles just drains me. Take for instance, my Devil May Cry Forum, that took me forever to search engine optimize to the way I like it and I'm constantly adding little tweaks here and there.
Not that I want to deprive any of the members of my communities - I just don't have the time to keep on top of more than one style. But hey, kudos to those of you who can. I envy you! |

my personal logic on this is that if people request more styles for your site it is because your style is not interesting enough...
members are not the one to give a spice to your site, it is your responsability to make it look the way it have to be. go to pepsi.com, coca-cola.com, microsoft.com etc... none of them is giving the visitors the ability to change the style of the site... or simple details for accessibility (font size etc)... reason: their style is their trademark. if you can't get a style, you have no trademark |

I use only 1 design for all my forums. I work a lot on the brading and making it look unique. That means there's no need for others anymore ... looks like my members don't want more

I have 1 style, have had it since opening nearly 2 years, no one has asked to have it changed yet!
