Upgrading 3.6.5 to 3.6.7
I have a number of hacks on my 3.6.5 board. Tonight I used Eva200's upgrade method but ran into [this problem. This is my first upgrade with hacks installed and I have the following hacks:
FlashChat Admin Panel FlashChat Integration Limited Guest Viewing Members who are using flashchat Members who are using flashchat (add-on) PhotoPlog Pro vBSEO Sitemap Generator Welcome Headers Zoints SEO Zoints Thread Tags My question is two-fold: 1. How can I keep from getting that error and what do I need to do to my hacks. Do I need to uninstall all my hacks, will I need to reinstall them, or how does that all work? 2. How can I make sure I keep my Zoints thread tags, PhotoPlog pictures, etc.? Since this is my first foray into mods, I sort of don't understand why I can't just install a fresh copy of vBulletin (using the upgrade method above) and my current database. Why does this cause errors if the mods aren't installed on the fresh copy? Thanks for the help. -TN |

So basically I disable all my plugins/mods and then do the upgrade, while figuring out how to make sure my thread tags/pictures/images/etc. don't get deleted and instead transfer over. Then, once I've got it upgraded, I can reinstall/upgrade the hacks that need it, uploading any new files/etc. following the instructions in the given hack/mod?
So once I disable all my products then the plugins should not be checked as active and, if so, I should uncheck them? Thanks for the help, I hope I understand it and I'll give it a try when I get the time again. -TN |

It's been a LONG time, but I finally got around to updating my site.
Anyway, I would like to say thank you for the help, as it appears everything went as planned. I actually decided just to disable all products, then update them and add all their necessary information back in. It only took about 4 hours total, so that wasn't too bad. Thanks again, I really appreciate it. |

Why didn't you just go right to 3.6.8?

You realize you can just download a copy of vb and install it in a different directory, right?

I did.
I used eva2000's upgrade method as posted on vbulletin.com. I didn't want to mess around with which mods had new versions and could be re-instated and which didn't, and the mods part was the shortest (really I could get the install time down to 2-2.5 hours if I really wanted to, but I don't like to rush things). Anyway, I just used eva2000's method and everything went as planned. If that's not what you meant then let me know. |
