Two boards, one database, different view?
Okay, so I'm with a friend of mine, and I've been thinking about an idea where we merge the database. But is there any way to show only certain forum categories and have own settings/styles on one board, and and different on the other?
We already got two boards with two separate licences, so that's not a problem. I hope anyone will answer. <3 |

This would be against the license agreement of vBulletin if you only own one vBulletin license.
If you want to do what you describe then I am sure you would need to buy 2 licenses of vBulletin. I would suggest you ask on www.vbulletin.com about that. Good Luck StarBuG |

As I already stated, which I will bold up now, I already got two licences.

Perhaps two separate sets of usergroups with different forum permissions. Site A would use usergroups 1-5, Site B would use usergrounds 6-10. I'm sure you get the general idea.

And you can create two different designs for the different groups.

and two sets of Staff
And you could also share certain forums to prevent duplication? e.g General Discussion could be synonymous on both sides. In reality speaking, you'd only actually need one board, just by premodifying the user groups through phpMyAdmin.. so adding say 10000 to a members User number and adding say 100 to their user group. Create a new skin.. assign it to certain groups. One dB, one board, two different communities. What would be interesting (and I haven't quite figured out yet... ) is allowing a user to be able to choose their user group on registration (obviously depending on requirements) but an example. Motorcycle Forum... Themed for Yamaha and Honda riders... but if some one likes / has one of each they can choose to have both options or one of them. Their user group amended accordingly (along with their perms and templates) |
