IE issues, help requiered please?
Hi peeps
My forum runs fine usinf Firefox but its prettey darn slow using IE. Currently running vb 3.6.2, forum started to go slow on IE since upgrading to 3.6 or should i say it wa around that time.... It also appears that i still have this hack installed, i did try it out once and although it appeared to make it faster in effect it was slower, only the page loading was instant, well after the long wait for it to cache itself lol. Anyway, the way the forum is in IE is as though this is still installed, I have checked, double checked and searched the templates and as far as i can see its deffo uninstalled!! I could really do with someone taking a gander to see what the issue might be? Preferably someone who is well known on here, perhaps someone i have dealt with before? Look forward to some help and or advice |

The speed depends on the browser and internet connection. There's nothing you can do on your site to make it faster for a specific browser. It might just be that you use Firefox all the time and have all images cahched, and when you use IE it just seems like it takes longer cause it has to load all images first.

Hi nico, i beg to differ im afraid, try it ya self if you have both installed, www.bashys-place.com or www.bashys-place.com/forums is ya want to go direct, Also some images that used to work on IE no longer do, such as my Clock in the 2nd block from the top on the left...tis a strange 1 this!
When ya click a link in IE it pauses for quite awhile, then when it loads, the pages shows instantly, this is why i thought it had sommat to do with that hack i removed as this is what that hack did! |

Firefox still appears faster but is actually taking the same time to load all the forum home page as IE.
IE just isnt showing the page til all has loaded. Did you make sure that hack code was cleared from all your header templates and headinclude templates. |

Its as good as cleared its coded out if that makes sense, even if its totally deleted IE is stall the same, i only just put the code back in tonight and its only in the header, i checked the headinclude just in case and it aint there...
I have now figured out what is causing it, it is the portal, I have the portal set so that the forum is viewed inside the portal, if i turn this off then IE is fast as FF. This was ok untill i upgraded to vb 3.6 and now it all makes sense! |
