I've been sick as a dog the past few days; Saturday will be my first day to take it out, can't wait to see how it rides....

It went okay, I got a late start and the temp was reading 104 on the blacktop at times. I ran 1.5mph off my best time on my old setup a few weeks ago, but am heading out tomorrow morning for a 50 mile ride and I have better expectations. Besides the heat, my seat was a little low and now that I've adjusted it and had a chance to get used to the new gear, I'm thinking tomorrow will be the day.
Overall, a lighter bike and "smoother"; I definately like the new shoe setup - cooler and seems like I have more power with the different clipins. It's suppose to be cooler tomorrow and I plan to head out a little earlier - with any luck, I'll set some new records. |

Hey, I made it! A little worse for wear - posted my second best time, not a record; but still tweaking the seat. I was great for the 40, but the last 10 was brutal on my back and I've ben suffering since (good thing I had a buddy crack it tonight, feels better already).
I'm going to get fitted to the new setup on Wednesday - but I'm loving the ride. I'm a big guy, 234 pounds and some massive shoulders; but I was hitting 24+ mph on the flats; woooosh! I'm having doubts about being able to pull off a century in October, but we'll see how it goes after I get fitted and work on my nutrition during the long rides - I didn't take enough carbs along for the full three hours and think I tanked after 2:15. |

very nice, as for your back, is it because the sits are more upright or is that cause of another issue.
Also as for your nutrition, what else do you change except your carb intake. Cause I myself have recently picked up a greater interest in fitness and I'm still learning about the nutrition part |

I'm going to get fitted on my new frame tomorrow; I suspect my seat was set back a little too far and put too much stress on my back.
I'm still learning the needs of long distance riding; but my studies have said that you need 1 bottle of water, 1 bottle of a powerade drink and 30-60g of carbs for every hour that you are riding. I was taking in about half of that during my first two hours and that could explain why I had a sudden dropoff in my third hour. My plan is to hydrate according to above and take more carbs along (power bar, gels, etc) so that for each hour of the ride I am following the guidelines. That and low 80s on Saturday will hopefully make for a much better ride as I work up to a 100-mile Century ride in October. |
