Changeing colours of text/links in templates

Im trying to change the colour of certain links, and text, but not all, in some templates.

Ive tryed changeing <smallfont> to <smallfont color="#000000">

for black but it doesant work. and <smallfont color="black"
that doesant work either.

I have no clue how to change some but not all link colours.
Maybe <a href color=#FFFFFF> or summit link that.
