About creating a new custom style

I would like to create a new style for my forum and would like to modify some templates in order to customize it a little bit more. The problem is that I would like to keep the original standard vBulletin style so that my members can choose between the two of them. Now my question is: how am I supposed to create this style so that it has its own modified templates?
