PHP Functions

I'm trying to get a slashdot newsfeed on my forum, I currently have require("slashdot.php"); and $slashdot=Slashdot(); in the php includes.

How do I call the php function from FORUMHOME? Using $slashdot doesn't work.

I've tested the script outside the forum and it works.
