Best portal for Auctions, Classifieds, etc?

hello,
i am still trying to sort out which portal system to use..there are so many.. my objective is to build an advanced portal system that has auctions/classifieds system [much like ebay/craigslist] built in [universal login/profile]. the 'vbay' thread looks interesting - but undeterminate availability date. 'phpauctions' - still can't tell whether this will be a good solutions.. ?

also, looking for a webmail integration. my mind is a boggle with all the different add-ons between phpnuke, postnuke, vbulletin/portal, snitz, phpbb, etc..

but whothehell knows whether or not registering with them [$50] gives u access to the modules used on their site???

not to mention, its built on phpnuke...and m'thinks i would rather work with a vbulletin based system.

can yall more experienced chaps help sort this out for me?
