Upgrading from 2.2.2 to 2.2.8, need advice, scared!
Ok,
So I hadn't planned on upgrading as I was waiting for vb3, now it seems vb3 will be an upgrade to vb2.2.8 or the latest version so I have to upgrade So I'm looking for advice on upgrading without screwing up all my hacks and modifications. What's the best way to do it? Upload all the files, run the upgrade scripts and then reinstall the hacks from scratch? Sounds like a b*tch? Or should I upload, run upgrade scripts and then use a file compare program to compare php files etc. and reinstall my hacks that way? Or something else I haven't thought of? I guess I should just upload .php files only as I won't want to lose my own .php files in my ./forum directory or my custom images etc. What about modified templates and custom styles, will they be overwritten? I could really use some direction here as my entire site is running from vb using vbIndex so I don't want to make a mess of this and have my site down for god know how long! TIA, G :rambo: (I have my backups done already) |
