Im a moderator and a co-founder of a website in a foreign country, and we are running VB version 2.2.1, and things are running smoothly so far, except for some minor things which are anticipated. The majority of the users, I would say about 95% are logging to the Internet through their ISPs Proxy servers. Its how the system is implemented in that country.
We have came across a problem when we had some users trying either to cause chaos or flame us or others users, knowing that they cant be banned from our forum because what is visible to us is their proxy server IP address not their real IP address given by their ISP, and if we tried to ban that IP range, we will be losing lots of our visitors. We have tried to ban some users by blocking Emails, or user names, but still, that didnt solve the problem yet. IP address logging function is on, & we are using the latest version of VB, but its logging the IP address of the proxy, instead of the actual user IP. Is there is a way, or a hack of some sort that we can apply, so we can log the actual IP address of the user when they post to our VB. I would ask please if someone could help, with anything, so we can moderate affectively. Your kind help, and assistance is highly appreciated on this matter. Respectfully, Gonz |
