Leaving the vB 4 software
So not sure about this Thread but thought i'd give it a go, I'm not here to bash vB 4 or vB 5 just wanted to share my thoughts.
So I've been using the vB software for many year now, started on vB 3 then went to vB4 and stuck with all the vB 4 problems until it settled down and got in a way stable. Then came vB 5, and I shook my head once again. I have learnt a lot with vB4 enjoy this place a lot, I never go to the .com site i like it here more. I know my way around the software kind of well, now how to change codes, read codes, also I know a lot with the admin CP I actually find it very easy to use. But I have had this itch for a while, the itch being to move to a new software, i think you can guess which software, the one which often gets spoke about, the Xen software. I followed it from the start, all the stuff between vB and them, and was happy how it finally ended. I have tested out the software, and as a member I find it nice, clean and easy to use, and fast too. But the admin panel really is hard to get used to. Apart from the Admin panel I am about ready for the move. But I feel sad to leave vB after all these years. I've made some good online friends over the years, also lost a few like Rob, aka Boofo. Also there's nothing really wrong with my vB Forum, it's got a lot of mods and custom stuff on it, it's a little slow with the software but not a huge amount. I know many have made the move, and also there have been some which have done both ways, moved then moved back, or just left Xen all together. I have zero interest in the vB 5 software. So what to do? I really don't know. Guess i need to keep thinking and the pros and cons of it all, but as i said the only real con for me personally is the Admin CP for Xen software. Anyway, I've put my thoughts out now, see if any replies come, no bashing or flaming guys, that will only get the Thread locked by Paul (just kidding Paul ) |
