Contact list / Buddy list as a sidebar forum block?

I've been messing with this for a while and just can't figure it out. Does anyone know what code from the contact list popup needs to go into a custom php forum block?

Running vb 4.2

To clarify, on your forum go to Quick Links menu, Open Contacts Popup. What you see in that popup, I'd like to put into a sidebar block. I did search this site but couldn't find a solution. Suggestions?
