New member registrations before Grand Opening?

Is there a way to have an index page saying coming soon and users be able to signup without a sneak peak to the actual site before site's launch?

Gather email adresses and do mass email to notify grand opening when site is actually open ?
I m planning on launching the site within a month or so and I think it would be kool to have registered users by the time the site opens.
