Building a new PC from scratch...
Some of you may not know this however I'm an EX-gamer... that's right long before my vbulletin.org days I was playing Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, heck even Joint Operations games w/ a huge modding community. In 2142 we actually had the first unofficial mod that even allowed the hover tanks to hover above water here is a old youtube video where I'm listed in the credits... one of the early version of the modification and if you know the game you also know what's so cool about this video and yes we did line up military style and follow orders:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZebQ2UMYQ4 Another from a site I helped run not too long ago TGW... I'm actually commanding in this one you can hear my voice even saying "Good Job" right at the end lol we stomped em' that campaign it was fun 32 vs 32 for weekends on end I was the General 2 Campaigns running see what you can do when you don't work all the time ROFL... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNI02LZ8F20 I've always been involved one way or another until I started doing online work which has taken me "out of the know" when it comes to computers. The last time I was on the up and up was along the time of the nVidia 8800 GT's and if your a gamer or enthusiast! Long story short.. my Hard Drive failed on my old rig... I loaded my wifes laptop and the network adapter failed so that will be fixed later (laptop) I retired my old rig though seeing as it was so old and currently borrowing my daughters 1gb Vista (eww) so ready to get a new PC in here asap! I want some friendly advice from fellow gamers on here.... Ready? Here's what I have so far... Two Nvidia GeForce 550 Ti Superclocked 1GB http://www.evga.com/products/moreInf...s%20Family&sw= DIY Kit including:
I'm adding in another 12gig's to max out the mobo, same model memory specs here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...4&sku=C13-5714 Also one more power supply since it lists the 550 at 400 watts min, same identical one to the PS included in the kit and the case has two places for power supplies top and bottom: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...sku=ULT-LSP750 Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...8&sku=M17-7310 Two misc Power supply vibration dampeners: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...9&sku=ULT40450 So all in all, around $1800-$1900 before I call and haggle the price at Tiger Direct, especially considering that DIY Kit as of last week had a 460 card included and they charge tax in only a few states one being mine so not fair imo, I'm not moving out of state to receive a -$108 in taxes that would be silly kwim. I went on several online sites to check the price if I was not building it myself and something comparable to this w/ one 550 graphics card was around $3,500. So fellow gamers, lend me your fingers and type up your thoughts! I would love to purchase all this tonight so it can be shipped and arrive in a timely manner giving me time to assemble and while I did say EX-gamer above when I find time to play, I like to play hard so that's why I maxed it out and besides with this equipment it will make the majority of work I do on here i.e. business related about 100x faster... I did have three 550's to max out the x16 slots on the mobo but imo overkill... let's have your thoughts! THANKS |
