Major transfer problems

Hi all, im looking for some help if at all possible

Over the past few days I have moved server and domain.

What I have done is backed up my original site files and done an SQL dump.

Then transfered all file to new server and reimported the database, and changed all references to the new domain within vB.

What happened after is very strange, the attachments would no longer work even though everything was changed and all attachments were stored within the file system.

Even stranger, the site then started to ban users and eventually banned everyone from their IP address, including myself.

Originally I thought this may have been an attack on the site, but Im back on my old server and everything is going hunky dory.

I followed all instructions on how to do a server move, but something has gone catastophically wrong.

Just wondered if you guys n gals out there had any ideas on what might be going on.
