Questions about transferring to dedicated server?
Due to repeated problems with Godaddy's security holes on shared hosting (not just for vBulletin, but also Wordpress and all other PHP applications) I finally decided to get a dedicated server with a different company. I have a few questions regarding the transfer:
(1) I want to setup and configure vB on the new server before I change the nameservers. Meanwhile, vBulletin will still be running on my old server until the nameserver change is complete.... therefore my vBulletin licenses will be simultaneously running on two different servers. Will this be a problem as far as licensing is concerned? Or in other words, will vBulletin detect my license is installed on two different servers and then invalidate it? Obviously the amount of time vB would be running on two servers will be limited (less than 72 hours probably) but I just want to check. (2) GoDaddy doesn't have Cpanel, so I'll just be doing a fresh install of vB on my new server. Therefore I'll have to transfer everything manually. Here's what I know needs to be transferred: .sql database vbulletin-plugins.xml vbulletin-settings.xml vbulletin-language.xml vbulletin-style.xml I know I will have to manually upload the images, too. Is there anything else here I'm forgetting? Thanks for your help guys. |
