Invite only system

Hello all,
I am wondering if there is a mod that could be done to invite new members via e-mail.

The idea is that I would like to input a e-mail of a potential member. The potential new member would receive an e-mail with a link directing to the forum allowing them to register.

I am currently using vB 4.02.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
