Plug-in dissapeared ?

Hi,

I just upgraded from version 4.00 to 4.02 the latest version, by reuploading the whole vBulletin installation and then running the upgrade script.

Now a friend of mine was coding a few plugins on my server and left them there. They seem to have.. dissapeared. He said he took ages coding them and there are no backups, is this normal ? Also where are the plugins usually stored ?
