Thread hiding on a per-member basis

I would love a modification that would allow an individual (logged in, not guest-level) user to (reversibly) hide threads from his/her view. The immediate application for this in my own community would be to hide threads from oneself that one finds disturbing, but are otherwise allowed in the community at large - different people have varying sensibilities and all that. I imagine there could be many more implementations, as well.

I envision it sort of like how the Ignore List will generate a "this post is hidden - click here to unhide." A user, upon discovering a thread s/he would rather not revisit, could click an icon to hide said thread in the Forum Display list, with a resulting minor (shaded?) line included that said "there is a thread here you've chosen to hide - click here view normally."
