Image as background help!

Hello,

I added this code to a page:

HTML Code:

<td width="208" bgcolor="#0d150f" background="images/mainbg.png"><img src="images/mainbg.png" width="208" height="1037"></td>

However, the content on the page is moved to the right side and is a little bit smaller because that are stuck there. How can I change the code the make the image act as a background, meaning that the content on the page would be above the image?
