Vbulletin's yahoo libraries and Ajax

I am not familiar with the yahoo libraries used in vbulletin.

I want to load an external page when a person clicks on a link into a div container. Pretty much like the expand and collapse feature of vbulletin, with the difference, that the hidden content should be loaded with an ajax call.

I could do this with jquery. I have done this with spry.
But I would prefer not to load another library.

So could this be done with the existing yahoo or vbulletin js functionality?
