Setting a thread order

Hi guys,

I want to be able to 'order' the threads to determine the order in which members see them.

My threads will be all date orientated.

So for example:
Sydney Film Festival - 23/03/09
Wagga Music Festival - 28/03/09

If someone replies to the Wagga thread I DON'T want it to be above the Sydney thread because the Sydney event is first.
And if another event occurs on the 25th, I want the ability to put it between the 2 existing threads on the thread list so they are all in date order.

Idealy I would like the forum ordering number system for threads.

Has anything like this been realised or is there a way to do it?
