Looking for feedback on an idea.

Primary Objective: Interest based user Profiles.
Create a selection of user profiles, that would function within a single template, that would alter the display templates and UserCP options that's selectable at registration with the ability to switch at a later time.

Secondary Objective: Project management system.
User project system that would incorporate individual and team(Social Group) projects, file storage for the individual/sharing for a team, publish ability (moving the project from private to public access) & an update/log "box" that produces an RSS feed.

1. Coding Difficulty? 1-10, 10 being most difficult for an average vbb hacker.
2. Value? Creation time to member use time? 1-10, 10 being most valuable.
3. Expandability? Think this would be grounds for extended and modifiable use?
4. Think its worth it?
5. How would you go about creating this? Use a modified social group schema? Modified Blogs?

Here's a little insight on the idea. I'm trying to gear my forums towards a game environment that supports not only those who play games, but those who enjoy the technical side like modding and machinima as well. I wanted to give them the ability to develop projects right there in the community and based off their reason for being at the site, a profile to highlight their interest and work. I'm running DownloadsII right now but the features, while nice, are rather limited for what I want.

My tactic for Project system is to find a way to use the vbb social group system and possibly the blog system to get his moving. My knowledge is limited outside of HTML, I'm still pretty amateur at this stuff.

Just wanted to see what others thought, how they would go about doing this(in terms of what they would mod and the code difficulty involved) and in the event I've missed something along my search for a similar system, is there anything like this already around?
