Looking for suggestions & ideas on best way of handling PDF 'newsletter' downloads?
Hopefully somebody has faced this before and can offer some sage advice on the solution they came up with.
I recently revamped a church website to be vBulletin based (previously they were using phpNuke and getting hacked every few months but that is a whole different topic) with a simple vBa CMPS portal page. One of the items I would like to do is a quick button/link of "View This Month's Newsletter" that is dynamic. The newsletter will be offered in PDF format. My dilemma is what is the best way of managing the PDF files so that (a) the church staff can quickly upload the PDF files as needed, (b) the 'view' link dynamically points to the most recent PDF instead of having a staff member manually changing it, and (c) visitors can view past issues as well. I have at my disposal vBulletin, all of the vBa products (CMPS, Links, Dynamics), and either of the PhotoPost galleries (vBGallery, PhotoPost Pro). I was thinking of creating a vBGallery category for storing the PDFs and then a CMPS module to select the most recently updated files but then I started thinking that perhaps just attaching them to a thread might be better? Or perhaps utilizing the new vBulletin "Albums" feature might be better in the long run? Maybe a Dynamics entry? For a number of reasons I am leaning perhaps towards a vB threads or vB albums solution but I am open to all ideas. With so many different options available I think it's a case of 'option overload' deciding which way to go. Thoughts? |
