Removing entire left table on main forum page

I've been searching for a way to remove the entire left table (or at least a way to shut that off) that displays the forum_new.gif, forum_old.gif, etc. I wanted it to be clean over there, with no pictures. Anyone have any idea of how to shut that off, or remove the code needed to accomplish this?

I did a bit of searching, but couldn't find this answer, just found a bunch about removing other stuff.
