Make an edited post register as new content

The general rule for most forums, including my own, is to edit your post rather than double post. Today as admin I found myself double posting, because I needed everyone to know a certain post had new content, and editing my last post wouldn't trigger the change on the forum home. Does anyone know if it's possible, maybe via mod, to have the home page register a thread as unread content if (preferably just the last, but any is fine) post has been edited? I often find myself struggling to justify editing a post, because I'm fairly certain most of the time noone will see it. Most of you are admins yourselves, I imagine. How do you deal with this? Or do you even care? Maybe I just get too anal about stuff?Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
