Rank ordering

I have searched and searched and searched and there seems to be no answer on here to this question even with all you fantastic coders on here.

I know that the order of the rank images are defined by usergroupid, but I have to ask, is there an easy way for me to be able to change the order of these myself? Whether it be a manual change to the PHP function or a way to change the usergroupid's (ie. how many tables are they stored in that I will need to change, and which ones) and if I change the usergroups, is there anything else I would need to take into consideration besides the ID links in the database?

Any help would be very much appreciated.
