Admin function from post link?

Bear with me as I try to explain this one...

I have a modification on my site that when a user names a certain request, a new post is made in a private administrator forum. Right now, to grant the request, I have to go to the AdminCP, go through a bunch of clicks to get where I need to be, enter the username and other data and submit. It's kind of a pain when I have 100 requests in one hour.

I had the idea to make the post include a link with all of the needed varibales in place that would just run the admin function instead of me going through a bunch of steps. The variables make it into the link, but when I click the link, I just get a blank admin page and nothing happens. I am sure there's additional data I need to send via the link to get this to work -- I just don't know what it is. Any ideas?
