Plaintext URL aliases for subforums?

Hi all,

I am wondering if it would be possible to set up plaintext URLs that resolve to specific subforums. For example, I want the forum:

http://www.genericwebsite.com/forum/...splay.php?f=17

to be assigned to the URL:

http://www.genericwebsite.com/forum/generaldiscussion

Looking forward to hearing whether that's possible.
